J.J. Abrams new super mysterious film “Super 8″ comes out today and  GlobalGrind got a chance to chat it up with one of it’s stars Amanda Michalka. The movie is about a group of friends who witness a catastrophic train crash  while making a movie on super 8 film and soon suspect that it was not an  accident. After that, there are unusual disappearances and inexplicable events  that start to take place in the town. Everyone begins to suspect that what is happening is much more then they  think. This movie sounds pretty suspenseful and we got the low down straight from  Amanda herself. Check it out!

So when you work with someone like J.J. Abrams and Spielberg, you  learn something. What’s one thing you learned from watching them do their  thing?

You know what, the cool thing about them is that it  never gets old. I mean, they’ve been doing this for so long and still have this  driving passion and love for what they do. And that to me is the most  encouraging thing and that’s how I feel about my career. So I watch JJ and how  he works with these kids and adults. He’s just so good with everyone and lets  actors kind of do their own thing and take the reigns themselves and go with  their instincts. That to me is really cool, because he lets you improve and have  fun but he’s also an amazing director.

Back in the day, people shot with super 8, but we think today’s super  8 is the iPhone. What’s the last thing you shot on your phone?

Last thing I shot on my phone, I actually bought the Super 8 app. a couple of  weeks ago and I shot a mini dog film. And it literally stars my four dogs,  Bandit, Roddy, Money Penny and Willow and it is a joke. I tried to do this  really cool deep voice over voice and it didn’t work at all.

Can we hear a little bit of that?

It was like …’One dog 1969, one dog born in 1973, will they take over the  world??’ It’s like so bad but I tried, I tried really hard. But I sent it to JJ,  I was like, JJ you have to check out this movie I did, I think it might beat  “Super 8.” He was laughing, it was really funny.

We’re looking forward to the release of that. What’s it called again,  the dog movie?

The dog movie, I haven’t really worked on a title yet. It’s called ‘War of 4  Dogs,’ that’s what I’m calling it currently but it’s still pending.
