Vote Aly Choice Scene Stealer Female: Easy A and The Roommate!

The epitome of Young Hollywood, AJ (Amanda) Michalka is undeniably talented in both music and acting. Arriving to her photo shoot to the Kaplan’s personal house in Westlake, CA, Michalka was filled with genuine excitement after admiring the clothing rack that was rested out for her to take a look. Her older sister Aly, who graced the February/March 2011 issue of Zooey, also stopped by to rave over how striking AJ looked by the poolside. In nothing but color and patterns, AJ was everything pleasant, splendor, and more.
While Aly has been filming in Vancouver for her CW television series Hellcats, AJ has been pursuing a movie career. AJ, who has already been in the spotlight since her elementary years, can be seen in the upcoming J.J Abrams’ and Steven Spielberg’s movie Super 8.
“[Director] JJ Abrams is such an incredible visionary,” says AJ, “People are going to be blown away.” The movie, which premiered on June 10th, stars young talents Elle Fanning, Ryan Lee, and Gabriel Basso whom all portray a group of friends in the summer of 1979. The three middle school children begin noticing supernatural excitement in their small town and seek to discover what it all is.
AJ stars as the older sister of one of the lead boys in Super 8. “The chemistry on screen was great between us! Our characters have a lot sibling rivalry going on for sure.” She was also able to flaunt her sexuality in the movie with actor David Gallagher (7th Heaven). “I have a great scene with David Gallagher where my character definitely uses her sexuality as a ploy. Something I would not recommend in real life but it was very fun to play.”
Produced by acclaimed director and producer Spielberg, AJ was thrilled to have met him. “He could not be more down to earth and kind,” she describes. “The combination of he and JJ is brilliant. The vibe on set was very easy going. JJ uses a lot of the same crew on all of his projects so there are no attitudes involved. It is all about the work.”

Sorry it’s been so long since we’ve blogged. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten about you!! As you may already know, Hellcats has been cancelled, but we truly appreciate the support you gave us. We are very proud of the first season and it was an incredible experience! We have made lifelong friends, which is always a good thing! J We are fully focused on the next album. You all have been so patient and understanding. J We know alot of you have been with us from the beginning and it seems like just yesterday when we released Into The Rush. The music we have been making lately is such a progression from what we have done in the past, but without leaving behind who we are.
The weather has been beautiful here in California and we’ve been seeing so many dear friends lately. AJ is headed to London in June and will also be traveling through St. Tropez and Cannes. She can’t wait to meet our French fans. Of course, I’m a lil jealous since I won’t be joining her, but she is taking a special trip with a friend.
Also don’t forget to mark your calendars for Super 8 coming to theaters June 10th!!! We just got the new Ipad 2 and have been playing with the cool Super 8 app. We are so hooked

It’s quite sad to see AJ talking about Hellcats and being excited to be part of the cast. At least we still know a record is on its way!
The movie hits theaters on June 10, 2011! Will you go see it?
It’s easy to shove Aly and AJ Michalka in with the Disney crowd, since their start included made-for-tween movies, High School Musical aftershocks, and their very own Grrrl Power rock group (which recently changed its name to 78-Violet).
But the blonde sister act, who are 22 and 20, respectively, have managed to diversify their careers with some high-profile ventures that most bubblegum stars couldn’t touch. While Aly’s comic turn in Easy A helped get the movie a Golden Globe nomination, AJ’s been cast by two Oscar-winning directors: Peter Jackson, who used her in The Lovely Bones, and Steven Spielberg, who produced the upcoming Super 8. Just don’t expect them to surrender their pop culture roots entirely: We spoke with the Michalkas on the set of Hellcats, The CW cheerleading soap where they’re currently playing (yes) very sassy sisters. Hey, if it worked for the Olsens…
Is it easier or harder to work with your sister than with other actors your age?
Aly: For me, it’s really easy. It’s not something that I have to get in character for, or do a bunch of research, or hang out with her so we have chemistry together. We get along so well, and we work so easily together that it’s a no brainer. And for me it’s a real treat to have her on set because I’m so used to being away from home. We shoot the show in Vancouver, and I’m like, “Where’s AJ! I miss her!” So having her close by is so special. She’s the best cast member I could ask for.
AJ: Aw. Actually, I’ve hated the whole experience and I hate my sister. She sucks.
Aly: What?
AJ: No! Come on. We always work on music together, but we’ve never done anything this cool, so I agree with Ali. The Hellcats team did something really neat, because you never see siblings playing siblings, and it’s so weird! We are so in tune with each other as actors, people, musicians… We rehearse lines all the time and we have a really good flow.

Finally the second video project made by fans is finished. This time the video is split into two due to there being so much to fit into the video. The first part is fans talking about there excitement for upcoming projects and the second part is more fans speaking and then the singing! Big thanks to Peppe and Albert for making this all happen.
