This must be the news Aly & AJ where talking about a while back to do with a book.
Lauren DeStefano’s dystopian sci-fi fantasy “Wither” is headed for the bigscreen, as Prospect Park and Violet House Prods. have acquired feature rights to the first book in a planned trilogy.
Producers are Jeff Kwatinetz and Rob Carliner through their Prospect Park banner and Aly and AJ Michalka via their Violet House shingle.
“Wither,” the first of three novels in first-time writer DeStefano’s “The Chemical Garden” trilogy, was released in March by Simon & Shuster and topped the Barnes & Noble and Publishers Weekly’s young adult bestseller lists.
Story is set in a future where the world’s in a state of panic due to a failed effort to create a perfect race that’s left women with a lifespan of 20 years while men die at 25.
The book series follows a kidnapped girl and her attempt to escape from a forced polygamous marriage designed to keep the population from dying out. The second book, “Fever,” is due out next year.
Prospect Park was a producer with Scott Free on “Unstoppable.”
DeStefano is repped by APA and the Irene Goodman Literary Agency.

It’s the news that all Hellcats fans have been dreading but unfortunately the show has been cancelled! Most fans already knew there was a slim chance it would be renewed with such low ratings in the second half of the season. The ratings of under two million views an episode is said to not be acceptable even for the the CW. Instead the CW has chosen to renew Nikita and One Tree Hill (the show that won’t end) and add four new shows.
I don’t see this news as all bad. All it means to me is that Aly and AJ have had great exposure and now they won’t be stuck doing a show that takes up all of their time. Instead they can do more movies and focus on their music. If Hellcats had gone on for longer it could have possibly damaged chances of future opportunities.
Here are some tweets that Aly and AJ have posted talking about the shows cancellation.
My dear fans….I just want to tell you all how grateful I am for all your comments regarding Hellcats being cancelled.
I had such an incredible experience that was life changing. The friendships, memories, and adventures will never be forgotten.I’m looking forward to a great season finale tonight & celebrating the great work we all did as a cast. Positive outcomes only! Xo alyWhat an incredible last episode of #Hellcats ! I could not have been more blessed to have worked on such a solid show with my kindred spirit. Aly’s talent, hard work and kindness blows me awayXo AJ
Unfortunately Hellcats has not been getting good ratings after it came back from the break. Yes, it’s ratings were great in the beginning but if it is to be renewed for a second season viewing figures need to improve and fast! The CW’s time for renewing and cancelling shows is close and some shows have already been renewed. No news of Hellcats yet though. If you want to save Hellcats now is your time. Tell family and friends to tune in for the last two episodes of the season next tuesday and after. Also SpoilerTV has made a poll of which shows should be saved so make sure you go over and VOTE!!! They will be sending there results to the networks which will hopefully sway their decision. Hopefully we can save Hellcats! Go HELLCATS!
